Who’s Been Caught

To date, more than 7000 children have “been caught” doing something genuinely kind.

Too many times we focus on disciplining our children. But if we took a moment to look around us, there are children who care and are taking the time to do kind deeds. Many of these kind deeds go unnoticed. The Josh Stevens Foundation is about taking the time to celebrate the kind heart of a child.

Here are a few kindhearted children who have been “caught”!

McKenzi R.
I had spilled a bunch of ice on the floor right before class as I was setting up a lab. As the students were entering, I was on all fours cleaning up the spill (which covered half the room). All the other students just stood and watched, but McKenzi was kind enough to ask if she could help clean up, and she did. Once she asked, other students started helping as well, but it was McKenzi’s kindness that started everyone else.

Rafael willingly took a new student to lunch and invited him to his table. The new 7th grade boy is from NY and was very nervous. I gave Rafael a kindness award.

Jarret S.
Jarret has earned my “Be Kind Award”. While working in his history class on a major project, he finished early. Another student in the class needed help to complete the project because his partner was consistently absent. Jarrett worked alongside his classmate for three days to help him. He did research, drawings, and final touches to complete the project. He got no extra credit. He simply did it unselfishly to help a friend.

Christina V.
We had to put Barkley, our family pet of 14 years, down. One of the sweetest young ladies in our concert choir,  Christina, delivered the kindest card to me to help cheer me up. It’s nice to know young people who care so much about others.

Alyssa F.
As school let out and kids rushed to their lockers, a shy sixth grader dropped his binder, papers, and books right in the middle of the hallway. Kids were rushing and plowing through to go home. As soon as I took one step toward his direction, Alyssa was already there, down on the floor, helping this boy that she didn’t even know pick up his papers. What a sweet-heart! I was so proud of her for stepping up to randomly help someone. I feel she deserves the Josh Stevens Foundation “You’ve Been Caught Being Kind” Award. Super job, Alyssa!”
