Taking 5 at Sienna Hills!

Barbara took a bunch of kids to Sienna Hills Assisted Living for “Take 5 For Kindness” on April 5th. Silver Sands Montessori Charter School created beautiful artwork to be given out to the senior citizens. The kids took time out of their spring break to support our local seniors. Then everyone went to Joshis Park to play barefoot football to remember all the children in the world who live daily with no shoes. Thank you to all who helped share some kindness today!

Be Kind in DC!

St. Anne's Catholic School on a trip to DC

Burkholder MS Testimonial

This student was awarded a “Be Kind” t-shirt; this event happened on the first day of school.  Her teacher, Mr. Whitley was telling his class about himself.  He has a couple of medical issues that he tells the kids about in case he is having trouble in the class.  With that, he makes a math problem out of the cost of his medications.  He finished by breaking it down to the cost of each pill that is $5.00 each.  His class left as did he.

When he came back he saw a $5.00 bill on his desk with a sticky note that said “for a pill”.  No name or anything.  He was finally able to track her down, and she shyly admitted that she was the one who left it.

He, of course, is framing the $5.00 bill for his classroom wall.

Giving Back

We received this from Erin Ward at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have been wonderful partners with the Josh Stevens Foundation! Thank you for your genuine kindness!

“Just wanted to share this with you.  We work with Conkerr Cancer and make pillow cases for children with cancer using old HRC shirts.  Looks like some of yours made it into the mix. Wanted you to see.  Have a great day! Erin Ward”

Being Kind in London!

Submitted by Ann R. from Molasky Middle School

My husband, Leigh, my 26 year old daughter, Sylvia, and I went to the “Super Bowl” of tennis competitions, the famed Wimbledon in London, England this summer to celebrate my husband’s second retirement this time from the casino industry. His first retirement in 2003, after 31 years of teaching in Miami, Florida and my daughter’s high school graduation, was celebrated by a trip to Wimbledon by my daughter and husband only. I had to stay behind to take care of my mother who was quite sick at the time.

We had these pictures taken while “queuing” (waiting in lines of 1,000 people each & there were at least 10 lines monitored by Wimbledon officials) for a chance of getting a Wimbledon Grounds Pass which enables you to get to any of the tennis courts except the three main courts – the waiting was as long as six or seven hours. Andy Murray was a big London tennis favorite so we donned these masks of his face to help pass the time in line.

We carried the Be Kind shirts around in our travels in England and to Krakow, Poland. We wanted others to be inspired by the “Be Kind” message.

Be Kind…More Often!

We received the following from students at Bob Miller! Thank you!

The nine of us received many compliments of our support of the foundation. You cant really read inside the little dots, but in each one they say “Kind like Josh.” I picked the colors red and yellow because they are the foundation colors. Red for the background and yellow for the sun. Hope you like them!:)
