Blooming with Kindness!

These pictures were taken during the garden ribbon cutting ceremony at JT McWilliams Elementary School in Nevada on May 10, 2012. There was a contest for the name of the garden.  The official name  ”Blooming with Kindness” was chosen to keep the BE KIND program going. They want to grow a community of kindness.

May 5th, Take Five for Kindness

Fox Five interviews the Josh Stevens Foundation as they share their Take 5 for the month of May! Click here for the original article.

HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -The number five is significant for the John Stevens Foundation.

On the fifth of every month, the foundation performs random acts of kindness and this month they’ve launched “Take 5 for KINDNESS” program.

Together with teacher Kristen Lueck and her fourth-grade class at Vanderburg Elementary School, they will be writing letters to soldiers of the platoon they’ve adopted in Afghanistan.

Along with the letters the foundation will create care packages to send to the soldiers overseas with specially designed “Be Kind” shirts.

Other acts of kindness the foundation suggest for Friday is to make an extra effort to smile or buy a hamburger for a neighbor or friend.

Smith’s helps students “Be Kind”

This morning I was walking out of a local Smith’s grocery story with daughter, when something caught her eye.

The kids from a neighboring school were working on a project…”Be Kind…Save the Earth.” We just had to take some pictures and share them!

JSF “Be Kind” on Ellen!

Whitney Elementary School in Las Vegas, NV is one of the many schools who have embraced the Josh Stevens Foundation. Today, Principal Sherri Gahn was on the “Ellen” show. Students were shown wearing “Be Kind” t-shirts as they were shown their new library!

“Ellen has been working all season to help the kids of Whitney Elementary, and today they got a huge surprise — a new library! Thanks to the people of Target, the Whitney students will be studying in this beautiful new building. But that’s not all! They’ll also be able to get their reading done on a cool new Kindle Fire!”

A Lesson in Kindness

Hi,
I used to teach at Legacy HS but am currently teaching out of state. I was wearing my Be Kind shirt in school and I had a 5th grader tell me,

“No, I don’t want to.”

Well, I explained where the shirt came from and we discussed what their Legacy is right now. It made a huge impact on my students. From a very smart alack remark to a lesson in kindness, respect how people view them and their actions.

Thanks, Cindy – Montana
