In PE, we keep our outside doors locked for the safety of the children, their belongings and our equipment.  Every morning, I ask one of the early birds to hold one of the doors open until my student aid arrives.  This morning while the girls were arguing about who was going to hold the door open, Taylor quietly leaned against the door and said “I got it Miss.”  She always steps up and offers to help out and I really appreciate that!  Miss Hart, PE Teacher, Harney MS

Roselin is a very smart young lady who has a really kind heart.  Roselin is always willing to help others in class as well as helping the teachers.  Most recently, Roselin has been a big help with the students in the MCS classroom.  She will volunteer to help when the teacher needs assistance, she is able to speak to one of the students in Spanish and get him to complete his work or go to where he needs to be.  Roselin tries very hard and has shown alot of improvement over the past school year.

National Junior Honor Society would like to honor 8th grader Chris Lewis for his outstanding contribution to Pennies for Patients. NJHS had been running Pennies for Patients throughout the entire month of February. Our school had done an amazing job going above and beyond its goal ($3,628.10); especially, with the generosity of Chris. He donated a five gallon water jug full of pennies that he had been collecting for 12 years. That water jug brought in $167.05. He then later brought in an additional $30.00 and then a final jug with additional coins. His total contribution was $212.35.

His act of kindness was Harney MS’s highest single person contribution ever recorded. Thank you so much Chris for helping Lymphoma and Leukemia patients everywhere!!!!

Jordan is the type of student who does kind things all the time. It is hard to narrow down just one incident that Jordan has done. One particular thing that stood out to me isn’t how he is kind to his peers, but how he is kind to others, anyone around him, as well. Jordan knows how important basketball game are to me. Jordan attends every basketball game, sitting directly behind the team cheering for the girls, even when he is the only one of his friends to do this. I have turned around to see Jordan sitting alone, but still cheering the teams on. And, more importantly, I saw him on numerous occasions look for my younger brother, who is forced to attend my games, and sit with him – only 10 years old. Jordan makes this guest to Harney feel welcome, and they laugh with each other. This is clearly something that Jordan doesn’t have to do, but he does. He is truly one of the kindest hearted people I have ever met.  I see Jordan make an effort to be kind to those around him on a daily basis. He makes others feel important while they are around him. Excellent job Jordan; you are the very person that people look up to as a role model. Keep it up!
